Arrival

He said, "I'll always love you, I'll always love you, whatever that means"
She said, "I'll never leave you, I'll never leave you, whatever that means"
He said, "you can do anything, anything you want as long as it's with me"
She said, "I need my freedom, but I need to see you, whatever that means"

I said, "you don't need anyone, you don't need anyone, to set you free
Whatever they say, life liberates you, life liberates you, and you are free"

Solo Journey

We love to love, and we hate to hate and we try to do things right
We search for what they call "soul mates" hoping to fulfill our lives
People sacrifice their freedoms for security
And they forget that there's a difference between taking and receiving

So won't you tell me, tell me what you see
When you turn off your lights
This is the solo journey

You are not your lover, and you are not your friends
You are not defined by the people you share your love with
Society will tell you, what you need to be full
But I tell you, the capacity for true love comes from being an individual

So won't you show me, show me what you see...

If everyone's out in the rain, cold and shivering
You have got to build your own house before you let other people in
You don't have to be comfortable in a big crowd, or alone with someone else
But the thing that will make or break you is are you comfortable with yourself

So won't you tell me, tell me what you see...

I ain't saying that you're alone, I ain't saying you shouldn't love
All I'm saying is as much as you absorb somebody, you can never become that person
We were born, and in the same way we will leave,
We will fall back to the sky and join creation's collective dream

But we are here to experience individuality
Now's our chance
This is the solo journey
We are strong, and this is the solo journey

Alas

Feathers float, but I just blow them away
My essence only a wave,
On the ocean of your hands, that carries me to land
Oh but alas, you see my body on the sand

So you take foot and shake its lifeless form
Ask me where have I gone
As I crash silently behind you, the formless one you once knew
Oh but alas, my body ceases to prove

And you steal the breath away from my lips
But I don't mind, I ain't sure if I'm ready to be breathing this

Oh the white, the foam that nurtures my eggs
And kicks them off into space
With no birth to unite me, from this geminial disease
Oh but alas, my body rises off its knees

And you steal the breath away from my mouth
But I don't mind, you know I ain't breathing you in, for fear of never breathing out

So feathers float, and I try and taste each one
For all the turns I have done
I still feel I've gone wrong, holding my breath all day long
Oh but alas, you can feel my heart in your palm

Nalgene Bottle

Well I dated the raver girl, but she didn't like the way I danced
She said, if you ain't got the moves boy, you don't stand a chance
I dated the ice skater but I fell down way too much
She said, I kinda like the way you're making me laugh but you're such a freaking' klutz
And I dated the biker chick but I couldn't find her throttle
I'm just looking for the girl with the Nalgene Bottle

Well I dated the fourth grade teacher but she didn't like the way I talked
She said, ain't ain't no word boy, and you should put on some shoes and socks
And I dated the fashion model, but she didn't like the way I dressed
She said, I kinda like your vegan diet, but your hair is such a mess
And I dated the scientist but I broke her favorite fossil
I'm just looking for the girl with the Nalgene Bottle

Well I dated the tennis player, but she said, john this is just too strange
You know you only come to my tennis matches cause you like the sounds we make
I dated the democrat and she dug the flowers I gave her
But she kinda got pissed off when she found that I voted for Ralph Nader
And I climb this tree of love, but I get pushed whenever possible
Hoping just to land next to the girl with the Nalgene Bottle

Behind the sea

Ravens above, the night is coming
Sky is yellow, cause the sun is going
We look out, and we see nothing
Cause like the sun, we are setting

And we go down, down, down
Behind the sea
Would you follow me

We were born in a rainstorm and everybody came
To see what was different and what would come to change
But they all ran screaming when we came down with the rain
You turned to me said we're gonna have to love now just the same

And we go down, down, down ...

I sat on the hillside laughing and you called out to me
You were down at sea level, begging for your seed
And you were angry cause Mother Nature wouldn't give you anything
You said life was hungry, life was gonna feed

And we go down, down, down ...

I

I believe in the strangest things, and they may never come true
But all that I wish is for what comes out of my lips not to confuse me or you
And when this world gets so absurd, I just remember what you said
That we ain't nothing but sun rays shining on down upon each other's skin

You believe in the most beautiful things, and all that I want
Is to reflect all the feelings that I get when I lift you into my arms
I was confused till I lost my shoes, now I'm just starting to understand
That we ain't nothing but rain drops falling on down upon our connected hands

I'll soak you in with my passion and enough fire to burn the sun
And still we ain't nothing but snowflakes falling on down upon each other's tongues.

Make respect

Some like it dirty, some like it clean, some like it sour, some like it sweet,
Some gonna get it later, some want it now, some like it quiet, some like it loud
Oh but I say
Some like it with whips, some like it with food, some like it alone, some like it in a big group
Some like it from above, some like it from below, some like it fast, some like it slow
Oh but I say

If it ain't respect than it ain't love x2
And it's all right as kinky as you want, just make respect as you make love

Some like it with toys, some like it with hands, some like to lay others prefer to stand
Some like underwater, some like it in the grass, some like it from the front, others want it from the back
Some like it with toes, some like it with ears, some like it cute, others want it weird
Some like it wet, some like it raw, some like it in the Teahouse spa with all the lights on

Some like it gentle, some like it rough, some like to go back to the bed where they grew up,
Some like it hard, some like it soft, some like a good mix of both, all night long
Some like it intense, some like it loose, some like it in crazy teletubby costumes
Some like it on a horse, some like it on a beach, some like it bouncing up and down on a trampoline

Some like it with guys, some like it with girls, some like it with both, some people just ain't sure
Some people they get urges and they don't think that they should, but believe me when I tell you that it's all good,
Just as long as you remember

A little time alone

There comes a point when simplicity crumbles and optimism runs away
Life shouldn't only be about creating new memories but sometimes it just feels that way
You can see anything from the tops of the trees or the wrinkles in your hands
Sometimes I just walk out of this city and I don't stop till reach the sand

Where the waves touch the sky and you can lay back and let yourself go
Cause every now and then in this world's soft spin you just need a little time alone

It's hard to go anywhere in this world and be the only breather around
Cause even in this concrete bunker there's a blade of grass poking through the ground
I feel the blessing, I see us connect I try to stay sacred in the air
But when I saw that blade of grass, and the shadow that it cast, well I nearly burst into tears

And you ask me why, and I tell you I just don't know
I guess every now and then, in the world's soft spin, you just need a little time alone

Barefoot in Santa Cruz

Take my hand and we can go, feel the ocean waves explode
Come with me on my simple boat and we'll sail.
Cause it's been a long week, but time passed and we now are free
Hold me close if that need be, I'm here.

And I'll get you home if it's the last thing that I do
I'll get you home, cause no one is gonna keep you from going barefoot in Santa Cruz

It's been so long since we smiled, held down by old folks in denial
For we are young and we must run wild, while we still can
I feel your hands touch my ears, soon our tan lines will disappear
Close your eyes we're almost there

And I'll get you home if it's the last thing that I do...

Sometimes I forget our age, if we're kids or if we're old and gray
I guess it don't matter anyway, we are here, we are alive

And I'll get you home if it's the last thing that I do
I'll get you home, before you know it me and you, will be barefoot in Santa Cruz

Back from the dream

The two things we repeated each and every other day
Were "you are so beautiful" and "thank you for thanking me"
And though they were simple, they meant so much more,
Cause we were there to translate the things we could not do with words

So now its back to pointing my guitar east
And back to turning over in my sleep
Back to stargazing in the empty street
The rain falls I am coverless alone on my feet

Still now everything is good, everything is pure
And I know it's hard to talk when all you got is words
And so we turn to ourselves and all we've absorbed

With all the things we see when we come back from the dream
And all the things that bend, when we worry about the end
And things may not happen the way you thought they would
But this is the pain of waking up

So if we ever sit on that wall again and look over Spain
And tell each other each fairy tale that enters our brain
Then maybe we could understand the next time we connect
How you and I could watch our reaction transcend the mix

So in a lucid reality, I'd be kissing your legs
Or looking up into your eyes trying to say
That you are so beautiful, wow, thank you
For helping me translate the untranslatable into

Hermit crabs

The waterfall knocked the bindi off your head
And the rivers flow washed the henna off your skin
And we lay in the petals of a flowers last dance
Life encourages romance

Aztec winds blew our hair just right
And the bean hollow sunset poured into our eyes
And the juice from the mango spilled all over our hands
Life encourages romance

LA smog showed us what could be done
And Christmas Eve fog enveloped us as we made love
And I called your name out to the wild accepting sky
Opened our shells and met inside

The waterfall washed the bindi off your head
And the rivers mud freshly tattooed our skin
And we laid in the petals of a flower's sacrifice
Opened our shells and met inside

Still exists

Saw your raincoat on my porch today, crumpled up next to my feet
I must admit it seemed kinda strange, cause it hasn't rained here in weeks
Funny how things in life can be like the rain, between sun and storm we don't know what is best
The rain it is long gone but your raincoat still exists

I've been growing my beard out, got it all soft like it was with us
I know you never liked my hairy face, but it sure felt good when we touched
Funny how things in life can be like hair, we remove them but they just come back so thick
Your touch it is long gone, but my beard still exists

If you were around you'd be hearing my guitar, cause I've been playing more often than usual
I guess it's the fun of being single or the pain of knowing that you could
Funny how things in life can be like songs they begin they end and then they're gone
You stopped singing me yours a long time ago but I haven't stopped thanking you for each one that I got

Because love is not a cold, love is not the flu
I don't think getting over people is what you're supposed to do
Love is a gift, thank you love

Song for the sunset

Daylight has its moments casts its glow on your face
And all attempts to hold it, disappear at the end of the day
Ain't nothing wrong with hanging and waiting for a spark
But if you sing a song for the sunset, you're gonna wind up playing in the dark

(All we feel are)(Oh we feel our)?  emotions screaming out what they want
We have no urge to oppose them, brain stands patient by its heart
And to hold a star is to truly see the light
And if you sing a song for the sunset, you're gonna wind up playing to the night

But if you love with purpose and bless each moment that you have
Everything you did was worth it light don't forget things like that
And the sun goes down and you might think that it's gone

But it's burning behind that ocean, still dancing to your song
